Monitoring

Understand how your infrastructure responds.

We integrate sensors, instrumentation and data acquisition systems to observe the behaviour of structures and installations. We incorporate weigh-in-motion technologies to record vehicle loads and provide information for traffic and logistics management.

We begin with a specific question: what the client needs to know and which decision that information must enable. From there, we define variables, measurement points, technology, recording frequency and assessment criteria.

Structural and infrastructure monitoring

Instrumentation defined by the objective

We design the measurement scheme according to the structure, conditions of use and the phenomenon to be observed. The selection may cover displacement, inclination, crack opening, strain or vibration. Specific instruments are available for these variables; their selection must reflect the required range, accuracy and installation conditions.

Monitoring during construction

We define measurements to accompany excavations, staged loading, structural construction or work on existing installations. The plan establishes an initial reference condition and allows changes at instrumented points to be tracked during the works.

Observation during operation

We organise the monitoring of variables relevant to the asset’s in-service behaviour. We relate records to loading, use and environmental conditions to inform inspections, structural assessments and maintenance decisions.

Data acquisition, transmission and access

We integrate sensors, acquisition equipment, power supplies and communications. We define how records are stored, accessed and exported, together with access requirements and compatibility with the client’s systems. The architecture is adapted to site conditions.

Thresholds and alerts

We configure notification criteria associated with previously defined variables and conditions. Thresholds are established on a technical basis and with a review and response procedure. We also provide for the detection of signal loss or instrumentation problems, so these can be distinguished from actual changes in the structure.

WIM

Weigh-in-motion

Weigh-in-motion systems record the actions produced by passing vehicles and allow axle weights and gross vehicle weight to be estimated without stopping vehicles at the measurement point, within the conditions specified for each installation. Depending on the configuration, they also record axle count and spacing, speed and vehicle classification.

Operational and logistics applications

We integrate these technologies into access routes to terminals, agro-industrial facilities, logistics centres, industrial sites and mining operations. The information allows circulating loads to be characterised and supports decisions on flows, infrastructure and operational control.

Road applications

Axle load and gross weight records provide information for studying heavy traffic, assessing demands on pavements and structures, and organising vehicle preselection for subsequent checks. The intended use determines the solution’s requirements.

Site selection and calibration

We assess pavement, geometry, speeds, vehicle paths and installation conditions. The quality of results depends on the combined sensors, civil works, configuration and maintenance; we therefore incorporate calibration and performance verification into the technical scope.

The system’s suitability for enforcement or commercial transactions is verified specifically. It is not assumed from its ability to record and analyse loads.

Applications across our sectors

InfrastructureInformation monitoring can provide
Concrete silos and bulk storage cellsChanges in displacement, inclination, cracks and other structural variables defined for storage.
Terminals and port infrastructureStructural behaviour and vehicle load records at access routes and logistics areas.
Water plants, treatment facilities and biodigestersStructural and service variables selected for the installation, with integration of specific instrumentation.
Industrial buildingsDisplacement, vibration and the behaviour of structural elements under their conditions of use.
Oil & Gas and renewable energyMonitoring of foundations, supports and structures, selecting equipment suited to the installation environment.
MiningObservation of stockpiling and retaining structures, and dynamic weighing on vehicle routes compatible with the chosen technology.
Road and transport infrastructureHeavy traffic loads, structural behaviour and changes in variables at critical points.
Real estate and civil developmentsMonitoring during excavation and construction, observation of existing structures and tracking of in-service variables.

From installation to using the information.

The scope may include site surveys, instrumentation design, supply, installation, configuration, initial verification, training and system maintenance.

Handover includes identification of equipment and measurement points, configured parameters, reference records, notification criteria and maintenance conditions. Reports and technical interpretation are included according to the contracted service.

Monitoring complements inspection and engineering assessment. An isolated reading or an alert does not, on its own, constitute a diagnosis of structural safety.

Let’s define what you need to measure.

Share the type of infrastructure, the variable or problem you need to observe and the conditions of use. We will design an instrumentation or weighing scope suited to that need.
