Mining

Concrete for stockpiling, transfer and demanding loads.

We develop silos, storage cells, hoppers, retaining structures and civil works for mineral storage and handling. We integrate concrete foundations, floors and walls with roofs, galleries, conveyor supports and steel transfer components.

The design is tailored to the material, stockpiling capacity, feeding and extraction methods, and site conditions. Infrastructure is coordinated with the equipment and the planned stages of the mining operation.

The stored material determines the design actions

We assess bulk density, particle size distribution and flow conditions to define actions on walls, floors and supports. In storage structures, filling and discharge states require consideration of pressure distributions that may differ from those of the material at rest.

In circulation and loading areas, structural sizing accounts for concentrated loads, repeated traffic and ground support conditions. Surfaces are specified according to the loads and expected wear, coordinating joints and edge details with equipment manoeuvres.

Where infrastructure supports dynamic equipment, we address its foundations and vibration transmission separately. The connection between equipment and structure is defined using the relevant operating and installation data.

Steel components and maintainability

We integrate steel roof and conveying structures, inspection walkways and discharge components. At points exposed to impact or wear, we assess replaceable protection and linings so that maintenance work can focus on the affected component.

Access, manoeuvring space and replacement sequences are incorporated into the design. We also coordinate drainage and containment works with the facility's conditions, distinguishing storage infrastructure from metallurgical process design.

Monitoring structures and traffic

We incorporate displacement, tilt and crack-opening sensors in elements that require monitoring, with baseline records and assessment criteria. Measurements are linked to inspections and technical reviews rather than interpreted in isolation.

On compatible vehicle routes, weigh-in-motion systems allow loads to be characterised. Their application is defined according to geometry, pavement, speeds and traffic conditions; not every mining route is suitable for the same technology.
